Taman Burung dan Anggrek is a huge bird park, with fully grown cassowary and its mate roaming free around the park, alongside birds of paradise, mambruk dan assorted birds of prey. Biak Island is the home to nine (arguably ten) endemics including Biak Paradise-Kingfisher, Biak Red Lory, Biak Monarch and Biak Black Flycatcher.

The main Island of Yapen is also populated by many birds of paradise and a good number of serious birdwatchers make the trek here. Sure is one of the last homes of the bird of paradise and other species.
